We investigate the production potential of aromatic and medicinal species, both cultivated and wild, with the goal of diversifying current crops and boosting rural development, maintaining biodiversity, and enriching the agroforestry mosaic to favor more resilient and diverse landscapes.
Our lines of work include: investigation of the agronomic characteristics and sustainable use of species that can be cultivated in Catalonia; evaluation of the chemical quality of wild species; investigation of the potential for commercialization and the potential markets for aromatic and medicinal plants; and the initial transformation through distillation, drying, and extraction processes.
