I obtained my PhD in 2021 at the Institute for Game and Wildlife Research (IREC) in Ciudad Real, with a thesis titled " The Status & Hunting of Turtle Dove (Streptopelia turtur) in Spain". During my PhD, I assessed the population status of the European Turtle-dove, investigated the causes of its decline, and analyzed the effectiveness of conservation measures, with a particular focus on hunting regulations. In 2022, I was awarded a Margarita Salas postdoctoral research contract, which allowed me to join the Forest Science and Technology Centre of Catalonia (CTFC) to study the spatial ecology of the turtle dove.
My research focuses on conservation science, with an interdisciplinary approach linking ecology and social sciences. I explore the impact of human activities such as hunting and agriculture on declining wildlife populations, with a particular emphasis on human-wildlife coexistence. Additionally, I am also interested in the assessment of the effectiveness of conservation and management measures implemented in the field. This includes evaluating which interventions yield positive, neutral, or negative outcomes, identifying gaps, and establishing evidence-based processes to enhance decision-making in conservation planning and policy.
