Since 2003, together with his team, he has established a close collaboration with the Catalan government. He is the coordinator of the technical office of the Observatory of Natural Heritage and Biodiversity of Catalonia, jointly with CREAF. In recent years, he has expanded his research objectives to include the use of bioacoustics in the monitoring of bird species.
He coordinates the STEPPE FORWARD Chair, which focuses on researching the impact of renewable photovoltaic energy on biodiversity, especially on steppe birds. The results of his research include more than 73 co-authored articles published in SCI-indexed journals. He has also been the lead editor of the book *Ecology and Conservation of Steppe-Land Birds* and has contributed more than 20 chapters to international and regional books.
