LINE / Science and environmental policy in biodiversity conservation
LINE / Conservation of agricultural ecosystems and game species

Forest Engineer from the University of Lleida and PhD in Biodiversity from the University of Barcelona.

Since 2003, together with his team, he has established a close collaboration with the Catalan government that led to the creation of the Observatory of Natural Heritage and Biodiversity of Catalonia, where he serves as coordinator of the technical office jointly with CREAF. The Observatory’s mission is to mobilize scientific evidence and innovative methodologies to inform political decision-making, strengthening the robustness and effectiveness of conservation policies. In recent years, he has expanded his research objectives to include bioacoustics in bird species monitoring. He has participated in numerous biodiversity and conservation projects related to agricultural systems, such as Biodiversa+ (FARMLAND, InterRest, TABMON), served as lead partner in the INTERREG Europe project BID-REX (“From Biodiversity Data to Decisions”), and contributed to LIFE Nature projects (LIFE Connect Ricoti, LIFE AgroForAdapt). He also co-coordinates the STEPPE FORWARD Chair, which focuses on studying the impact of renewable photovoltaic energy on biodiversity, particularly steppe birds. His research output includes more than 73 co-authored articles published in SCI-indexed journals such as Communications Earth & Environment, Conservation Letters, Biodiversity and Conservation, Agriculture, Ecosystems & Environment, Journal of Applied Ecology, PNAS, Ecological Indicators, Behavioral Ecology and Sociobiology, and Journal of Avian Biology. He is the lead editor of the book Ecology and Conservation of Steppe-Land Birds and contributed to more than 20 chapters in international and regional books.
