We investigate the factors that drive biodiversity, structural patterns, and functional processes in grasslands, forests, and other agroecosystems to establish the foundations for a sustainable management in the context of global change.
We analyze how variations in climate, land use, and management influence trophic webs and biogeochemical processes, and with the objective of generating knowledge that can be applied to sustainability we study the provision of ecosystem goods and services such as productivity, product quality, resistance to invasive species, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and decreases in nitrogen leaching and carbon sequestration.
