FOREST CHEMISTRY, BIOPRODUCTS AND BIOREFINERIES
Integrated into the Mediterranean Wood Chemistry Lab, we work to develop and implement biomass conversion processes and technologies to obtain high-value products. In our team, we develop thermochemical conversion of biomass in pilot plants, as well as separation and extraction processes of compounds destined for the chemical, pharmaceutical, and nutraceutical industries. These include antioxidants, furfural, levoglucosan, and vanillin, among others.
Our objective is to become a trusted source of expertise in research and implementation of biorefineries and bioproducts based on the resources of the Mediterranean agroforestry ecosystems.
