The aim is to understand, through a multiscale approach, the factors that modulate forest dynamics and function within the current context of global change. The studies incorporate an analysis of how forests respond to disturbances (especially wildfires), the processes of rural abandonment and its effects on forest ecosystem functioning, and the evaluation and modeling of the consequences—regarding the provision of ecosystem services—of applying different forest management strategies.
The ultimate aim of our research is to generate knowledge that strengthens the adaptive capacity of forests and maintains the goods and services they provide to society.
