LINE / Conservation of agricultural ecosystems and game species

PhD in Biology from the University of Barcelona.
His research focuses on the study of the ecology and biology of threatened species, and especially on understanding the response of birds to environmental or anthropogenic changes, such as agricultural or hunting activity. He has particularly worked with birds and agricultural intensification, one of the main current causes of biodiversity loss, through different approaches such as habitat selection, landscape ecology, reproductive biology, evaluation of the effectiveness of conservation measures, demography or population viability analyzes of threatened species. On the more applied side, the aim is to generate and transfer to society knowledge for decision-making helping to improve the conservation status of species and habitats. In this framework, he has participated, for example, in the drafting of recovery plans for threatened species, in the analysis and improvement of agro-environmental measures of the Common Agricultural Policy or in the identification of High-Nature Value Farmland areas in Catalonia.

He has participated in 10 national (CogBuffer, Steppeahead, etc.) or international competitive research projects such as Biodiversa Eranet (Farmland and Interest), in one of them as principal researcher. He has also participated in 2 LIFE Nature projects (Life Connect Ricotí and Life Agroforadapt) and in a European Commission contract (Birds@Farmland). He has received orders from the administration or Tragsatec to carry out population viability analysis of threatened bird species and is a member of the Steppe Forward chair, formed by the CTFC, the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and the company Total Energies. It is also part of the consolidated Research Group ECOCONS (Ecology, behavior and conservation of biodiversity). As a result of this activity, he has participated in 5 collective works (books, manuals or atlases), is co-author of 38 SCI papers (H=17), and has co-directed 2 doctoral theses.
