Researcher (M)
PROGRAM / Landscape dynamics
LINE / Landscape Modelling (LandMod)
José Salgado-Rojas obtained his degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Talca, Chile, between 2011 and 2016, and subsequently completed a Master's in Operations Management at the same university from 2016 to 2017. In 2024, he completed his PhD at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), where he focused his research on mathematical modeling applied to spatial decision-making in conservation.
His research interests focus on creating and utilizing methodologies to improve decision-making in territorial management, integrating various factors and scenarios. He possesses knowledge of stochastic models for decision-making support, dynamic and stochastic optimization, and multi-criteria optimization. Additionally, he has worked with advanced artificial intelligence models, such as reinforcement learning, applied to threat management and conservation.
