A growing number of scientific studies have highlighted the positive influence of natural environments on human health, from both a physical and psychological point of view. In addition to improving well-being, nature can contribute to reducing risk factors derived from our modern urban lifestyle, encouraging physical activity, restoring mental health, or protecting against toxic environmental exposures. The analysis of the mechanisms by which nature interacts with human health is still a young and unexplored field, especially in the Mediterranean region.

The Environment and Human Health Laboratory (EH2Lab) studies the interactions between the natural environment and human health with the aim of informing decision-makers, raising public awareness, and enriching the body of scientific evidence in this field. The inter-disciplinary research carried out in the EH2Lab is mainly centred on analysing how nature affects human health.
